Launceston could get 275 homes, a fast food outlet, supermarket and hotel near Link Road
Construction of up to 275 homes, a coffee shop, fast food restaurant and hotel in Launceston could take shape next year, it has been confirmed. Developer Wessex Investments said it has been in talks with the owner of the land adjacent to the town’s Link Road and South Petherwin Road since 2011.Outline approval was granted for up to 275 homes, a range of commercial buildings, including a 60-bedroom hotel, a pub/restaurant and associated infrastructure including roads and footways, parking, landscaping, open space, alteration of ground levels and drainage.Reserved matters planning applications – items to be decided after initial permission is granted – were also submitted for 200 homes, a pub, hotel, fast food restaurant and coffee outlets.However a spokesman for Wessex Investments could not confirm whether Morrisons would still be involved in the development.Detailed planning consent was secured for the construction of a 53,000 sq ft Morrisons superstore, petrol filling station and surrounding infrastructure.
