Green light for 870 home Elgin South Village
Detailed plans of the new Elgin South Village proposed by Springfield Properties have been approved by Moray Council.The plans for the first 870 new homes, two new schools have been approved at a meeting of the local authority’s planning committee.Made up of two, three, four and five-bedroom highly energy efficient homes, with ample green space, communal areas and the option for retail units, the plans will transform the south side of Elgin.The detailed plans are part of the wider 2,500 home masterplan.The housebuilders have been working closely with the Council to design a new village covering 204 hectares – roughly the size of 167 football pitches.The first phase will also help Moray Council meet affordable housing targets with 220 allocated for social housing.
