Historic Leeds bank to be converted into flats and retail space
Plans have been submitted to convert an historic former Lloyds Bank in the centre of Leeds that was designed by a notable Victorian and Edwardian architect into a residential and retail project.Located at 2 The Headrow in Leeds the proposed development site was previously a Lloyds bank from 1906-2008 and is now grade II listed.The proposal, by London-based architecture and construction company Archian would convert the building into commercial and residential units.The plans would see the basement and ground floor utilised for commercial purposes while the first, second, third and fourth floors would all be used for residential units as flats.The conversion would create 19 apartments, consisting of one two-bedroom apartment, 11 one-bedroom apartments and seven studio apartments.2 The Headrow was designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield, who played a crucial role in the development of Regent Street in London and was built between 1930-1931 replacing the earlier Lloyds building that dating back to 1906.
