Green light for MK shopping centre extension

Plans to redevelop the intu Milton Keynes shopping centre have now been given the go-ahead by the secretary of state.The scheme will involve extending the 430,000 sq ft shopping centre with an additional 100,000 sq ft of space, including a new dining quarter over two levels and a five-screen boutique cinema. Intu’s plans encompass the space in and around Oak Court and Midsummer Boulevard which will be remodelled to provide “a welcoming environment and enhanced ambience”.The development is said to be one of the most significant retail and leisure projects in central Milton Keynes in more than a decade.The proposals have been approved by Sajid Javid after they were called-in in late 2015.The proposed work at intu Milton Keynes is part of a £1.5bn development pipeline in the UK over the next ten years.
