Project to increase milk processing capability from 3 million litres to to 6 million litres per week of whole and skim milk into Pasta Filata cheese types, whey and whey products, sweet cream, whey cream and polished water, together with associated CIP systems.
The scope of supply for the project includes; process engineering, process installation, electrical design and installation, services design and installation, commissioning, operator training, and performance guarantees.
The cheese making equipment is outside the scope of the project however the equipment will be new and employ the latest technologies and best practice. This project scope is to facilitate the increased milk processing volume of the cheese making equipment, using latest technology and current best practice to compliment the new cheese making efficiencies.
The process areas within the project scope of supply include:
New milk intake and tanker CIP,
Integration of additional milk storage silos and milk distribution,
Cheese milk pasteurisation and standardisation,
Vegetable Oil storage and distribution,
Cheese vat emptying system,
Whey storage, separation, pasteurisation and storage,
Production and storage of Whey Concentrate, WPC, Lactose and Polished water,
Product import and export,
Existing CIP systems are to be upgraded and integrated into the new process.
The automation platform is to be Siemens. A plant wide SCADA system is to be included to provide operational and management data to optimise plant performance and ensure compliance to regulatory requirements. The SCADA system is to cover all new and existing processes. The existing processes will include boiler room, chilled water plant, effluent, water distribution and air compressors.
Key performance criteria:
Site water consumption is to be optimised, totally replacing mains water with polished water and bore hole water.
The water consumed by the process and CIP is not to exceed 0.5 litres per kg of cheese produced.
Heat recovery to be optimised to reduce site energy inputs.
