MediaCityUK expansion backed by Santander

Santander is providing £10m in funding to support the expansion of MediaCityUK in Salford Quays.The money from Santander Corporate & Commercial will help to advance the future development of the site whose occupiers include the BBC, ITV, the University of Salford and dock10. Designs for a number of additional buildings were approved in September 2016 and work is already underway on the first, a 238-unit luxury apartment scheme known as Lightbox.All of the buildings are expected to be completed by 2030.Phase two of MediaCityUK will ultimately double the size of the hub including ten new buildings, creating more than 538,000 sq ft of business accommodation, 1,871 residential units, more than 47,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, and about 1,800 car parking spaces.
