Blueprint unveiled for Leicestershire village revamp
A long-term strategy to help revitalise a Leicestershire village, which includes developing public areas and encouraging the creation of residential, business and leisure schemes near Leicester Marina, has been unveiled.Charnwood Borough Council is leading the Watermead Regeneration Corridor project in a bid to breathe new life into Thurmaston and the surrounding area, including Watermead Park, over the next 15 years.The strategy’s main objectives are to improve walking links between Leicester and Thurmaston, make public areas more attractive so they can be used for food and drink uses and to create a visitor centre in Watermead Country Park to raise its profile.The authority said the project will “require significant funding”.
