LMH lodges Edge Lane plans
Liverpool Mutual Homes (LMH) has lodged plans to construct almost 150 homes at a site fronting Edge Lane that was formerly earmarked for a major development by listed housebuilder Bellway. The housing association has submitted a full planning application to Liverpool City Council to redevelop a 3.9-acre plot running parallel to Edge Lane, bounded by Durning Road to the east, Royston Street to the south, and Marmaduke Street to the west. The site is currently owned by the council. All buildings have been cleared from the brownfield site. A host of terraced properties were previously demolished to enable the wider regeneration of Liverpool’s Edge Lane corridor.LMH expects to invest close to £20m into the Bowker Sadler Architecture-designed scheme, which features 107 one- and two-bed apartments as well as 38 two- and three-bed homes facing Royston Street. The homes would also have car and cycle parking spaces and private amenity areas including roof terraces, balconies and gardens. In 2010, Bellway secured planning consent to build 42 apartments, 73 duplex apartments, 67 houses and six bungalows on the same site but the proposed scheme was never realised.Edge Lane is the latest scheme to be brought forward under the umbrella of the Liverpool Housing Partnership, which comprises the council, LMH, Redrow and Willmott Dixon.Local residents were consulted about the scheme at a public information event on 1 June 2017. Subject to planning approval, construction on phase one could begin in early 2018 ahead of full completion in 2020.
