Inn to be developed on former airfield site
A new pub and restaurant is set to be developed at the Kingsway site in Gloucester, located on the former RAF Quedgeley airfield, creating 60 jobs.Gloucester City Council has granted planning permission for a new ‘Farmhouse Inn’ from operator Greene King.The site at the junction of Naas Lane and Newhaven Road in Quedgeley, close to the Kingsway Local Centre, has now been sold by developer Robert Hitchins to Greene King.The two-storey building will have a gross floor area of about 10,000 sq ft and feature 73 car spaces, outdoor seating and a children’s outside play area. Staff accommodation will be on the first floor.Work is set to begin shortly with the pub set to open in summer 2018.Kingsway forms part of the former airfield at Quedgeley which received planning permission in 2003 for 3,300 homes, a 40-acre employment site, community and leisure facilities, retail, sports area and primary school.
