Vital Energi strikes £15m deal to build district heating network in London
New low-carbon heating network will heat 30,000 homes and businesses across the borough of Enfield in North London.UK clean energy provider Vital Energi has sealed a deal to deliver a major new district heating network in Enfield, north London, which will provide low-carbon power for up to 30,000 homes and businesses.Under the £15m deal, announced yesterday, the district heating network will be built out by Vital Energi on behalf of Energetik, the energy company owned by Enfield Council. It is expected to take 12 years to complete, and cut the carbon footprint of homes connected to the network by 80 per cent compared to households with conventional heating.The agreement includes Vital Energi taking on the management of the main energy centre for the £6bn Meridian Water development, a major regeneration programme in the Lee Valley Regional Park that is set to bring thousands of new homes as well as shops, community spaces and a new railway station to the local area.
