5. Description: The awarding authority undertakes national and world-leading research into waste treatment and the sustainable production of energy from waste and grown biomass. To achieve this, considerable investment has been made into the facilities available to researchers and students.
The awarding authority is looking for the following piece of equipment to compliment its existing range of laboratory equipment in order to facilitate its research as well as the variety of educational opportunities it offers.
Output specification –
A product is sought which is capable of separating all solids from primary sewage sludge down to a size of 25 microns or below.
This is to be done at large laboratory scale (1-25 litres of sludge to be processes per hour).
The product should not substantially change or break down the physical structure of the sludge as part of the separation process.
Both separated solids and liquids need to be routed to separate processes, there can be no dead ends in the product which require manual removal.
Product should be capable or running unattended if necessary.
Footprint of product not to exceed 1m x 2m, height not to exceed 1.5 meters.
Product should be safe to use in an indoor environment, noise levels are a consideration.
The awarding authority would also need to verify that the product performs as expected prior to purchase.
Full technical specification of the proposed equipment should also be included in the tender submission.
