Bulldozers to move in ahead of former dairy site redevelopment
Demolition work on the former Dairy Crest site beside the A14 in Cambridgeshire will soon be underway with the site to be prepared for redevelopment.Barker Storey Matthews and Matthews & Goodman were jointly instructed as the property agents on the nearly 100,000 sq ft Dairy Crest site in Fenstanton – a village between Cambridge and Huntingdon – in late 2012 following the announcement of the dairy’s closure.Terms of a sale were agreed with Morris Homes in 2014 and conditional planning permission was first gained in 2016.Now the sale of the site has completed, Morris Homes has secured planning consent for 85 new homes with associated open spaces, plus the development of commercial premises. The new residential scheme was made possible after the agents worked with the local authority – Huntingdonshire District Council (Hunts DC) – to establish and agree the principle of a change of use for the site from commercial to residential.Ahead of the joint agents marketing the site to residential developers, Barker Storey Matthews’ planning team scoped a detailed planning brief in association with Hunts DC.
