TCS lines up new Leeds apart-hotel
Leeds-based property development and management company Town Centre Securities (TCS) has revealed its plans for a new apart-hotel close to the Victoria Gate development.TCS is set to make a pre-application presentation to Leeds City Council’s city plans panel on 12 October to see whether a new development on George St would be acceptable, ahead of submitting a full application. The proposal is to create a single building containing approximately 117 separate units of accommodation with 82 studios, 31 one-bedroom and four two-bedroom units, using the appearance of the nearby Leeming Building as inspiration. The ground floor would contain nine units for a range of commercial uses, including retailing, cafés and restaurants, bars or takeaways. The new building would have the ability to be accessed from both George Street and the former Butchers Row, offering the opportunity to access the market from multiple points along George St.It would also retain the commercial unit frontages along the northern side of Butcher’s Row, a number of which would become more accessible. The apart-hotel would also have a frontage directly into the market which will help to drive increased footfall and provide further life and activity.
