Cash boost for Tees Valley transport schemes
More than £8m has been pledged towards three “essential” Tees Valley transport projects.The cash boost is courtesy of the National Productivity Investment Fund which has earmarked 76 projects across the UK to benefit from a £345m pot.The trio of projects include £2.95m being put towards the introduction of a ‘throughabout’ at the A66/A171 Cargo Fleet Roundabout in Middlesbrough, £3.37m to improve the connectivity of the Darlington Growth and Enterprise Zone – which will help to unlock about 1,000 homes and 5,000 jobs – and £2m for the Swans Corner to Flatts Lane stretch in Nunthorpe.Local contributions of £1.017m, £1.3m and £600,000 from Middlesbrough, Darlington and Redcar & Cleveland Councils respectively are being made.
