Redbridge bids for development money for Church End
The Council has bid for a Transport for London (TfL) Liveable Neighbourhoods grant for much needed money to increase healthy, active travel and improve the environment in Church End triangle (October 20th).The bid includes plans to:-improve walking and cycling in the area-heighten road safety-reduce through traffic-create ‘Play Streets’, which links closely to the ‘This is Redbridge’ campaign to win London Borough of Culture-create several Parklets, small green spaces-support new planting to improve air quality-include measures to reduce crimeThe TfL Liveable Neighbourhoods programme gives boroughs the opportunity to bid for funding for long-term schemes that encourage walking, cycling and the use of public transport.It provides grants of between £1m and £10m for a wide range of community-supported projects, including creating green spaces and cycling infrastructure, redesigning junctions and widening of walking routes.The funding supports schemes that have local support and will reduce car trips, improving residents’ health and local air quality.
