Plans in for nine-storey Leeds hotel

A new nine-storey hotel could be built on the outskirts of Leeds city centre if newly-submitted plans get given the green light.Citispace Properties, supported by planning consultancy WYG and Pop Architectural, has lodged plans with Leeds City Council for a site on Regent Street.It forms part of the existing Citispace scheme, a mixed-use development of ground floor retail and commercial units with residential accommodation above.The proposals cover the development of a new nine-storey building comprising 54 bedrooms, reception, dining area and undercroft parking.The reception and dining room will be created in the existing ground floor units facing Regent Street and will link the new-build element with the existing scheme.The new building will effectively complete a Citispace quadrangle, adjoining the former Homburgs unit.A planning statement prepared as part of the application said: “The proposed development will regenerate a key city centre site and provide significant economic, social and environmental benefits.
