Environment Agency starts £1.5bn flood framework procurement
The Environment Agency is looking to appoint suppliers to a £1.5bn flood defence framework (January 15th).The government agency is seeking consultants and contractors to deliver its Flood and Coastal Risk Management capital programme as part of a collaborative delivery team.Lot 1, worth up to £300M, is for professional services including design and consultancy services, project and economic appraisal and risk and safety management.Lot 2 is for programme delivery, including construction engineering works, coastal works, site investigations and environmental assessment, worth up to £1.2bn.The work will be split into six regions across the country to deliver “sustainable, best value outcomes across nominated geographical areas”. Tenderers will only be able to win two geographical areas.The initial framework will run for four years with the option to extend to eight years, based on the suppliers performance and the agency’s demand.Candidates should express interest through the online portal by 19 February and the estimated date for the invitation to tender documents is 12 April. The new commercial arrangement is expected to be in place by July next year.
