Revised plans revealed for £70m automotive hub
Revised plans to create a £70m automotive hub neighbouring Nissan’s Sunderland site are set to be submitted.Development company Town End Farm Partnership (TEFP) is behind the Wear Point 55 project, with proposals for the scheme initially going before planners in April 2017.However, permission was refused.Now, a revised Wear Point 55 application is set to be submitted to Sunderland City Council. The site has the potential to create more than 1,300 jobs through the development of a 1 million sq ft manufacturing space comprising two new factories for tier one suppliers to Nissan and 100,000 sq ft for commercial use.TEFP believes the £70m investment would be “game-changing for Sunderland and the wider manufacturing sector post-Brexit”.
