Revamp plans for UKs highest restaurant
Plans have been unveiled for a major facelift of the UK’s highest restaurant.The Ptarmigan is situated 1,097m (3,599ft) up Cairn Gorm mountain in near Aviemore in the Cairngorms.It forms part of the CairnGorm Mountain snowsports centre, which is owned by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and operated by Natural Retreats.The redesign, which includes an extension featuring a rooftop walkway, is the subject of a public consultation.While work is under way, the building and its facilities will remain in operation and will only close for structural alterations.CairnGorm Mountain Ltd hope that if planning allows the development to go forward work could start in the later part of this year.
