Construction works start on new Edinburgh waste transfer centre

CCG (Scotland) Ltd has commenced work on the Seafield Depot Phase 2 project, a new waste transfer station and associated works in the North East of Edinburgh.The Glasgow-based firm will deliver the waste transfer station adjacent to the existing Seafield Community Recycling centre at Fillyside Road, Seafield, on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council.The new site, which will accommodate garden waste, dry mixed recycling, mixed glass and mechanical sweepings waste streams, is scheduled for completion in summer 2018. Once finished it will help service a further new waste treatment centre at Millerhill, Dalkeith, which is to become operational late next year.CCG has extensive experience in the construction of industrial-commercial units, most recently completing a 37,500 sq. ft. facility for Clyde Gateway that is currently used as an operational hub for BT.The new waste transfer station at Seafield will be a single story commercial building with a brick façade which will replicate the aesthetic of other commercial buildings in the surrounding area.Inside the building there will be four bays for refuse, a single accessible toilet and a lobby. There will be three pedestrian access doors on the north, east and south sides of the building. The works also include creation of new public access road from the Seafield Road.
