Microbrewery planned for former dairy site

Plans have been lodged to develop a new microbrewery in Sheffield in a disused unit originally built as a dairy processing plant in the 1920s.Holley Paquette Brewers Ltd has submitted an application to Sheffield City Council for the change of use of Unit 8 at The Old Dairy on Broadfield Road. The Old Dairy was originally built in the 1920s for use as a milk and cheese processing plant. After this use was discontinued, the units were repurposed for industrial, retail, storage and commercial occupation.The unit covered by the application is one of the original dairy buildings and currently said to be in a state of disrepair.The proposed microbrewery will be created on the ground floor of the property and produce craft beer in bottles and kegs for sale to wholesale customers. The first floor will remain in use for storage and offices.The facility will use a barrel brewing plant to be manufactured by Moeschle UK of Sheffield, and a small bottling plant to be manufactured by Doncaster-based TT Optimal.It is expected that three jobs will be created initially with the potential for more staff to be taken on as production increases.Holley Paquette Brewers Ltd directors Dann and Martha Holley-Paquette were previously behind the Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project in the US.
