750-bedroom PRS plans to be presented

A proposed mixed-use development in Leeds city centre measuring up to 23-storeys and featuring up to 750 private rented sector (PRS) apartments is set to be presented to councillorsGet Living (Leeds) will present its proposals for the former Doncaster Monkbridge site to the south of Whitehall Rd, fronting onto Globe Road, to Leeds City Council’s city plans panelThe site is located on the edge of Leeds city centre and is bounded to the south by the railway line and grade II-listed former viaduct.The applicant is proposing a development of eight buildings up to 23 storeys in height.A total of 750 one-, two- and three-bedroom PRS apartments would be created, together with ground floor commercial units, parking and landscaping.The aim is to create a new neighbourhood with public open spaces, pedestrian routes and a range of leisure facilities as well as other commercial uses includes retail units, cafés, restaurants and bars.The applicant is hoping to get feedback from committee members, prior to the submission of a full-planning application for the development at a later date.Councillors will be asked to consider whether the heights of the buildings, the public realm works, the sizes of the residential units and whether the level of car parking are acceptable.
