A pipeline has been launched for Antenatal Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia and/or Glycated Haemoglobin Measurement (Laboratory/Clinic Based) Including Newborn Sickle Cell Screening Equipment, Reagents and Associated Products.The contract start Date is 16 January 2019. Approach to market date is 16 August 2018.The Framework will consist of reagent rental and/or purchases of analysers and reagents capable of accommodating tests for the screening of both Antenatal Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia and the measurement of Glycated Haemoglobin. Also for analysers and reagents capable of accommodating tests for the measurement of Glycated Haemoglobin only and Newborn Sickle Cell screening equipment, including analyser(s), reagents and associated products. The requirement is for an automated system offering detection of Sickle Cell Haemoglobin and other common Haemoglobin variants, using eluates from the newborn bloodspot card in those laboratories undertaking newborn bloodspot screening.This is a potential opportunity from the government, and the pipeline gives advance notice of an opportunity that might be offered by the public sector in the future – allowing potential suppliers to plan accordingly.
