Approval for Meggitt’s new £130m West Mids base

Plans for a £130m facility in the West Midlands that will provide a base for up to 1,000 Meggitt employees have been approved.Planning consent has been granted for the joint venture between Opus Land and Manse to build the 440,000 sq ft building for the Christchurch-headquartered company. Meggitt, a world leader in aerospace, defence and energy, employs more than 11,000 workers at over 40 manufacturing facilities and regional offices worldwide.The major West Midlands project will be constructed at Ansty Park, Coventry, and will bring together a number of Meggitt’s operations.The 440,000 sq ft facility will combine the company’s aircraft braking systems, control systems, customer services and support and corporate shared services departments.Plans include an engineering and manufacturing centre for future aerospace thermal management technology which has already supported by the UK Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) with a research and development award from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy of £3.7m.Development is expected to start in August and be completed by October 2019.
