Restaurant proposed for former bank

Plans have been lodged for the conversion of a former bank in Headingley to create a new high-end restaurant.Park Lane Group, supported by YEME Architects, has submitted an application to Leeds City Council for the change of use of a HSBC bank on Otley road.The building is thought to date back to the mid to late 19th century and was in use as a bank until January 2017. It has been vacant since then despite attempts to secure a new tenant.The developer is now proposing to convert and extend the property to bring it back into use as a restaurant.On the ground floor, the internal partitions would be removed to create a dining area and the existing washroom facilities converted into a commercial kitchen. The mezzanine level will also be cleared and new office space and toilets created.A new ?rst ?oor roof extension is also proposed to ensure that the size of this venue will be commercially viable.It added there had already been interest in the property from established operators, including Akbars restaurants.
