Plans for second phase of suburb’s regeneration scheme submitted

Proposals to construct more than 100 homes and leisure facilities including a new cinema in Nottingham’s biggest suburb have been submitted.Broxtowe Borough Council has entered a planning application for the second phase of the Beeston Square development, which will consist of 120 new homes, a cinema and a number of new food and drink outlets. The application has been made following a public consultation on the designs, with more than 150 residents giving their views on the plans.The two-acre site sits alongside the recently extended tram network and aims to revitalise Beeston’s night-time economy by driving increased footfall to the town from the local and surrounding communities. Subject to planning permission being granted, the scheme – which has been developed by Nottingham-based Leonard Design Architects and marketed by agents HEB and JLL – is expected to start onsite in spring 2019.
