The Awarding Authority is developing a new (Pre-Production Prototype or PPP) variable speed wind turbine as part of a fully integrated 7kW system to provide reliable, cost efficient power in areas where mains electricity is either unreliable or unavailable. The PPP has a significantly low design Tip Speed Ratio (TSR) in comparison to conventional turbines. It is anticipated that Multi-Wall Polycarbonate Sheets can be used in the construction of the turbine. There are four (4) different profiles that are of interest, this document is specific to the Power Shield.
