£3.2m environmental investment project for Glasgow Southside

Work on a project to improve Scottish Water’s waste water infrastructure in the southside of Glasgow will begin later this month.Scottish Water’s £3.2m investment project begins on Monday 18 June and will be carried out by the utility’s contractor George Leslie. The work is expected to last five months.The utility is completing the upgrade of a Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) in Langside Drive with better screening and new pipework to reduce the frequency and volume of waste water spillages in storm conditions, and so help improve the water quality in the White Cart Water.Some road traffic management is necessary to enable the work to take place and road users are urged to follow signs which will be displayed.For the duration of the project, Langside Drive will be closed between its junction with Riverside Road and Tantallon Road. From Monday 2 July, a further road closure will be in place on Riverside Road between Langside Drive and no. 44 Riverside Road. This will be in place for up to four months. Also, Tantallon Road will be closed westbound for approximately one week from Monday 2 July.
