Plans lodged for George Street aparthotel
Plans have been lodged for a “transformational” project that would create a new aparthotel and commercial units next to Leeds’ historic Kirkgate Market.Town Centre Securities (TCS), Leeds City Council’s development partner on the project, has submitted a full application for development at 4-32 George Street.It is proposing to construct a six-storey building featuring a 126-room aparthotel with a mix of studios, one- and two-bed units.Nine retail units would be created along with new direct access from George Street into the market.The scheme could create about 50 new full- and part-time jobs, as well as approximately 80 jobs during construction.It has been designed to complement the refurbishment of the grade I-listed Kirkgate Market and improve connectivity between the market and Victoria Gate.
