Housing and care company secures major housing contract
A Gloucester-headquartered housing and care company has secured a maintenance contract with a housing association initally worth £62m.Mears has secured a five-year contract with an option to extend for a further five with Riverside Housing Association. In total, the work could potentially be worth £125m.The contract covers over 11,500 homes across the Midlands, East Anglia and South of England and will commence in July 2018.As part of its pre-close trading update for the six months to 30 June 2018, Mears also revealed it had secured a contract to arrange the purchase and refurbishment of 365 homes, currently under private ownership, on behalf of the London Borough of Waltham Forest.The contract will be operated by LBWF and Mears for 40 years and the arrangement is valued at £75m, starting in July 2018.
