Dow to enhance energy performance of IOC’s Olympic House

Following on from the 2018 Olympic Winter Games last February, Dow has announced that it will enhance the energy and architectural performance of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) brand new HQ, Olympic House, in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Olympic House will serve as the “unified global meeting place for the Olympic Movement”, while also honouring the centenary of the city’s status as the international headquarters of the Olympics.
Due to open in June 2019, Olympic House will take its architectural inspiration from dynamism and the movement of athletes. Effort has been made to blend the building with its natural surroundings however, through green elements such as rooftop gardens.
To better complement the environment, Olympic House is being built with the highest level of energy efficiency, long-term savings and sustainability in mind. As such, the IOC has set its sights on the ambitious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification.
“Dow’s history with the Olympic Movement, celebrated most recently with the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, has always focused on collaboration to combine the power of science and sport globally,” said Louis Vega, Vice President of Olympic & Sports Solutions at Dow.
“At the iconic new Olympic House, innovative Dow solutions will be applied to deliver benefits in areas such as energy efficiency, health and safety. We look forward to the next steps in this journey with the IOC, offering a lasting impact on generations to come and creating an inspiring atmosphere for all who work in and visit the building.”
