Major office plans to create 500 jobs tipped for go-ahead

Up to 500 jobs could be created in Worcester after plans for a major new office development in the city were tipped for approval.Housing association Sanctuary Group is beind the scheme for the 19,590 sq ft site in Farrier Street which would be transformed into a five-storey office block if the city council approves the application at a meeting on Thursday 28 June.A total of 40,945 sq ft of floor space would be created if the go-ahead is granted for the site which is adjacent to the company’s current central office campus.The company re-located to Worcester in 2003 and now employs more than 1,000 staff on the campus and 12,500 nationally.The site was formally the location of a single storey car showroom and workshop. The building that occupied the land was constructed in the 1960s and was demolished at the end of 2012.Previous permission for the scheme was granted on 27 March 2014 but work was never started.The company was established in 1969 and turned over £670.9m during its 2016/17 financial year. It is aiming to reach £1bn by 2020.
