Planning approval granted for second phase of Inverkeithing regeneration

Planning consent for the £8.9 million second phase of Kingdom Housing Association’s regeneration of Fraser Avenue in Inverkeithing has been approved allowing the construction of 61 new homes.Thirty per cent of the new houses will be designed and built to meet suit the particular needs of tenants who require amenity or wheelchair housing. The date for the start on site is dependent on the rehousing of the tenants who still live in the flats and some will move into the phase 1 homes.Fife Council is hoping to start the next phase of demolition in January 2019 and the new build should start during the summer 2019, with an estimated completion in December 2020.The redevelopment masterplan has been developed through consultation with the local community and the tenants in the existing flats, who have fully participated in the design process. A total of 236 Fife Council flats are being demolished to be replaced by 189 new low rise homes, built to high quality standards to meet identified needs.
