Holiday park extension set for green light

Plans for the extension of an East Yorkshire holiday park, including new lodges, camping pods, facilities and a games area, are recommended for approval when they go before councillors later this week (19 July 2018).Coastline Leisure, supported by WS Planning, submitted plans at the end of 2017 for an extension of the Heron Lakes Luxury Lodge Park in Routh, near Beverley. The park currently comprises 50 lodges with a small reception and office building, as well as four lakes and landscaping.The plans cover the change of use of part of the sites for the siting of an additional 131 holiday lodges and 56 camping pod.Also included are a new bistro and gym building, a new reception and office, toilets and shower blocks, a multi-use games area, and play area. Five additional lakes would also be created as part of landscaping works.Following an objection from the Environment Agency on flood risk grounds, the applicant has removed a provision for static caravan provision.It has been estimated that the development would inject about £2.8m of private sector investment into East Riding of Yorkshire during the construction programme.Once complete, it would support 11 additional full-time-equivalent jobs, as well as further spin-off roles, and contribute more than £1.1m to the region’s economy annually.The application will be discussed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council at a meeting on 19 July 2018. A planning officer’s report prepared for the meeting recommends that, subject to the Environment Agency’s objection being resolved, the application is approved.
