Apart-hotel set for Victorian factory

A Victorian factory in Nottingham is to be transformed into an apart-hotel, offices and workshop space after the city council gave the plans the go-ahead.Nazir Asmal is behind the scheme for the three/four-storey Palmerston House in Mount Street and has secured permission to convert it from use for education into space for a hotel, offices, training, meeting rooms and workshops.The hotel will be located on the first, second and third floors and comprise a total of 36 rooms. A total of 15 are planned for the first and second floors, each being about 430 sq ft with an open plan and en-suite.The third floor would have a further four such rooms plus two comprising two bedrooms, living area and kitchen and bathroom.The lower ground floor would include five office rooms, three meeting/training rooms, the reception for the hotel and back-of-house reception and office. The floor would also include seven car parking spaces and six motorcycle spaces as well as two workshops.The plans were first submitted to Nottingham City Council in May. The building has a gross internal floor area of 36,654 sq ft.
