Property developer to sell land tipped for 149 homes

A property developer is at an “advanced stage” of selling land earmarked for 149 homes in north Warwickshire to a social housing provider.Cheshire-based Muller Property Group has already secured overall planning for the properties in Ansley following two successive appeal hearings against North Warwickshire Council over the site’s separate housing phases.Outline permission for phase one, up to 79 homes, was granted when the council lost an appeal in January 2017.A planning application for a second phase from Muller for up to 70 houses was rejected by councillors in October 2017, despite being recommended for approval by planning officers. Muller appealed to the Planning Inspectorate, and an inquiry was scheduled for May this year. However, the council withdrew its case on the second day, and the decision to refuse permission was subsequently overturned by the inspector.The company is now at an advanced stage of agreeing a sale to a social housing provider who will then submit detailed planning applications.A total of 40 per cent of the new homes will fall into the category of affordable housing.
