Tolent restarts work on £100m Carillion scheme
Work has restarted on a £100m regeneration scheme in Sunderland that shut down following the collapse of Carillion in January.Sunderland City Council’s development partner Siglion has appointed Tolent Construction to complete one of the site’s main buildings, the Beam.Gateshead-based Tolent has now commenced work on the building, which will provide 59,000 sq ft of office and leisure space close to Sunderland city centre.The Vaux site was closed down following Carillion’s liquidation, with workers told not to return to the site. No work has taken place since January.In March, Siglion launched a new procurement process to find contractors to finish the scheme. It is now expected that the Beam building will be completed in early 2019.
