Homes sales to fund affordable housing in Pontesbury

A housing association has been given permission to build three houses to sell on the open market, and put the funds towards affordable homes on a new site.Severnside Housing has been given the green light to demolish two existing buildings at Linley Avenue, Pontesbury, and replace them with three new homes to sell.Shropshire Council’s central planning committee was told Severnside Housing has exchanged contracts for a different site on the edge of Pontesbury, subject to planning consent for affordable homes.An application was approved by the committee to remove the conditions relating to affordable housing, as the scheme on Linley Avenue had previously been approved with the intention that affordable housing was to be built.Pontesbury Parish Council objected to the application over a shortage of affordable housing in rural areas.
