Approval recommended for homes and park-and ride scheme

Plans for hundreds of homes and a new park-and-ride scheme on a site in East Yorkshire are recommended for approval when they go before councillors later this week (9 August).Barton Willmore, on behalf of Linden Homes North and Strata Homes, submitted a hybrid application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council in 2016 for a site north of Minster Way in Woodmansey.Full planning permission is sought for the first phase of the development, comprising a total of 325 houses, with a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties.This element of the scheme includes a new roundabout from Minster Way, which will be the main point of access.The application also seeks outline approval for the second and third phases, which will comprise a further 575 houses as well as new sports pitches.Phase 2 also includes a 500-space park-and-ride scheme with a bus link through to Beverley’s Flemingate centre.The application will be considered by the council’s planning committee on 9 August. A report prepared for the meeting recommends member grant planning consent, subject to the signing of a legal agreement to secure a 10 per cent affordable housing provision.The report said the development was “acceptable in terms of its impact upon ecology, drainage and highways”.It added that while views of Beverley Minster would change, the harm created was “considered to be less than substantial when weighed against the public benefits”.A full planning application from Taylor Wimpey for 213 houses on a site in Market Weighton is also recommended for approval at the meeting.
