Warrington housing scheme set for green light

Plans for a large housing scheme on a Warrington site located close to retail outlets for a number of brands including Next, Ikea and Marks & Spencer have been recommended for approval.Quorum Development Management and Seddon Homes are seeking permission for 79 homes on land bound by Delta Crescent, Westbrook Crescent, Cromwell Avenue and Westbrook Way.A mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom terraced, semi-detached and detached properties are envisaged on the plot which adjoins the Willow Vale housing development to the west.Ahead of a Warrington Borough Council meeting next week, planning officers have recommended that permission be granted despite some opposition to the proposal.Loss of employment land and green space plus an increase in traffic are among the objections.According to a planning report, the principle of development is acceptable, as is the loss of employment land, while the approval recommendation is subject to conditions covering financial contributions from the applicant.The properties are thought to be in keeping with the character and appearance of the area and are not expected to have a detrimental impact on neighbouring houses.
