Approval lined up for Copperas Hill project
Liverpool John Moores University’s plans to transform Copperas Hill into a new student destination look set to secure approval.Located at the entrance to the Knowledge Quarter and adjacent to Liverpool Lime Street Station, the former Royal Mail Sorting offices closed in 2010. The site has been cleared and is earmarked for a five-storey Student Life Building and two-storey Sports Building.LJMU is planning to develop the site in two phases as part of a wider masterplan investment across its estate. Phase one at Copperas Hill is scheduled for determination by Liverpool City Council next week (28 August) ahead of a proposed opening in the autumn of 2020.The application was submitted on behalf of LJMU by Barton Willmore, which was appointed by Faithful+Gould. Sheppard Robson, Cundall and WSP also helped prepare the application.
