Housing plans at Longniddry South development to go on show

Proposals for residential development at Longniddry South will be unveiled to the public next week.Developers Cruden Homes (East) and ZeroC will be displaying their proposals for development at the Longniddry Inn on August 29 from 3pm to 8pm.The event is being held ahead of the submission of a series of applications, enacting the existing planning permission for the exciting mixed-use Longniddry South development.Longniddry South is located around Longniddry Farm, to the south of the existing village, and was approved by East Lothian Council’s planning committee for 450 new homes in August 2017, with formal planning permission in principle was issued in June 2018.The development includes around 25% much-needed affordable homes plus associated commercial and retail space, community facilities, infrastructure and green space. The commercial and retail space is being delivered separately by Socially Conscious Capital, acting for landowner, Wemyss and March Estates.Cruden Homes is part of the Cruden Group which contributes around £60 million per annum into the East Lothian economy through its many activities and is a strong supporter of the council’s Construction Skills Academy. As with all its East Lothian sites, Cruden Homes will use local apprentices, local contractors and local suppliers wherever possible and have a clear desire to give opportunities to the county’s young people.ZeroC is a specialist developer focused on creating sustainable new places, such as at Chapelton in Aberdeenshire and Tornagrain in Moray. It is is closely affiliated with Castle Rock Edinvar Housing Association as they are both members of the Places for People Group, which is committed to providing more than just housing.Socially Conscious Capital and Wemyss and March Estates have a long-term commitment to deliver a truly exemplary development, which will be integrated with the current village and of benefit to the wider community.Should permission be received it is anticipated that construction starting on site in early 2019.
