Work starts on former cake factory housing scheme
Construction has started on a development 40 affordable homes on the site of a former cake factory Leamington Spa.Social housing provider Stonewater is working with Warwick District Council and contractor Jessup Brothers on the development, which will create 12 one-bedroom and nine two-bedroom apartments for affordable rent.Stonewater will also provide a mix of four one-bedroom and 15 two-bedroom apartments for shared ownership, a part-buy part-rent scheme which aims to help people onto the property ladder.The development is being built on a disused commercial site, formerly the Elisabeth the Chef cake factory at Sydenham Farm, which relocated to new premises several years ago. The derelict building, which was bought by Stonewater, has been demolished to make space for the new homes.
