Investment package for North East social housing unveiled
North East housing provider Bernicia is to build at least 500 new homes as part of a £190m investment programme over the next five years.The Ashington-headquartered business’s plan comprises £70m to build at the new homes and a £60m planned programme of investments in its existing 14,000 properties. The package also includes £50m for a responsive repairs programme and £7m to improve the communities and neighbourhoods it manages.Bernicia employs 550 staff and serves 60,000 customers living in properties in Northumberland, North Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, County Durham and Hartlepool.
