Short description of the contract or purchase(s): Cornwall Council, in conjunction with the Police and Crime Commissioner Devon and Cornwall Police, seeks to appoint a number of suitably experienced, licensed and accredited organisations that can currently facilitate the secure boarding, including satisfactory nutritional and healthcare standards, of any breeds of dogs, which could be classed as Stray/ Custody or Seized dogs, that would be brought in to them within normal working hours, or out of hours, by authorised representatives of the Authorities.
The dogs concerned could range from the very friendly to those that could be extremely difficult to handle. Every dog is a potential threat which can be judged to a certain extent by its history and exhibited behaviour.
The experience and skills of the handlers, veterinary and kennel staff will need to be utilised to collectively determine the dogs’ temperament and likely behaviour but all dogs brought in should initially be treated with the utmost caution and respect.
Such services are to be undertaken within the jurisdiction of the provisions within the Animal Welfare Act 2006, the Animal Boarding Establishment Act 1963 and any other prevailing related legislation that may be in force.
