£1 billion Beam Park development approved by Deputy Mayor of London

A £1 billion mixed use development at Beam Park in East London has been approved by the Deputy Mayor of London, Jules Pipe.The announcement, confirmed on Monday by Countryside and GLA, will ensure delivery of over 3,000 new homes on a 29-hectare site at Beam Park – formerly a Ford manufacturing plant. Crucially, it is one of only three regeneration schemes in the capital to deliver more than 2,500 homes and provide 50% affordable housing. In Beam Park’s case, this equates to 1,513 affordable homes.In addition, the regeneration will provide a new railway station and medical centre, which will serve not only local residents but also up to 7,000 people in the wider community. New schools will be built alongside retail space, a gym, nursery, community facilities, a multi-faith space and two energy centres.
