Green light for events at Falcons grounds

Newcastle Falcons have received planning permission allowing the club to stage events, including the Living North Christmas Fair, on grounds adjacent to Kingston Park stadium for a 30-day period over the next five years.The application concerned the temporary change of use of the Falcons grounds, for 30 consecutive days each calendar year, for a period of five years, for an event marquee and associated parking.The approval allows the club to retain the 35,000 sq ft marquee used by the Living North Christmas Fair event for a 30-day period. This enables it to hold planned events, such as gala dinners and charity fundraisers, outside the Living North Christmas Fair event.Newcastle City Council’s granted planning permission at committee on Friday 5 October.Members of the planning committee had previously conducted a site visit on 20 September 2018. The following week, the club was granted a licence which allows it to host up to 10 events per year and sell alcohol from marquees on the training pitch.This year’s Living North Christmas Fair will is planned for 1 to 4 November. Under the proposals, the marquee will remain available up to 30 November.
