Green light for build-to-rent apartment scheme

A proposed build-to-rent (BTR) development of more than 300 flats in Sheffield city centre has been given the go-ahead.Platform_, supported by DLP Planning, secured consent for a new scheme on land between Sylvester Street and the Porter Brook from Sheffield City Council at a meeting earlier this week (16 October). This followed a recommendation for approval in a planning officer’s report prepared for the meeting.The company is a developer and operator of private rented housing and already has more than 600 homes under management in commuter towns and employment hubs across England.Designed by TateHindle Architects, the 335 apartments will be a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bed units spread across two blocks ranging from five to 14 storeys in height.More than 2,500 sq ft of amenity space will be provided as well, including two residents’ lounges and a top floor gym.
