Student development poised for approval
Plans to demolish Exeter’s former Transport Club as well as an auto centre and replace it with a 114-bed student development plus space for retail and business are poised for approval after council officers recommended them.If approved, the six-storey development will be made up of 102 bedrooms in cluster flats with a further 12 arranged in studios.The building’s planned 3,175 sq ft commercial space will be split between two units.Methods of demolishing the site’s current buildings have already been approved by the city’s council.The site, within the city centre boundary and outside the areas of restriction of student housing, is considered to be well located for student housing development in accordance with the hierarchy set out in policy.Exeter City Council’s planning committee will discuss the plans on Monday.
