Multimillion-pound plans for golf destination

Multimillion-pound plans to create a new international golfing destination and centre of excellence have been lodged.An application for the £9m expansion of Leeds Golf Centre in Wike has been submitted to Leeds City Council by The Parklane Group.The proposals include a new clubhouse with a double height glazed entrance space, double height driving range with interactive facilities, a new centre of excellence building containing a sports bar, and 37 eco-lodges designed specifically for golfing breaks and overlooking a newly-created lake.Since it was purchased by The Parklane Group in 2011, the course, which is the UK base of the Leadbetter Golf Academy, has undergone a multimillion-pound redesign. The new plans could create 37 jobs, as well as a major new destination for golf tourism in the north of England. They could also benefit the club’s existing community activities, which include regular lessons in local schools.
